2507 Stainless Steel
2507 is a ferrite austenite (two-phase) stainless steel, it has
integrated many properties of ferritic steel and austenitic steel ,
because the content of chromium and molybdenum is very high, so it
has very good resistance to pitting corrosion, crevice corrosion
and uniform corrosion ability. Two-way microstructure ensures that
the steel has a high ability to resist stress corrosion cracking,
and the mechanical strength is high.
2507 stainless steel used in the oil and gas industry; Offshoreoil platform(heat exchanger tube, water treatment and water supply system, fire
control system, hydraulic system, stable water system;
petrochemical equipment; desalination (dilute) equipment, and
equipment of the high pressure pipe, water pipe), need to have both
high strength and high corrosion resistance of mechanical structure
and components; fuel(or waste) gas purification equipment .

SAF 2507,due to high content of chromium and molybdenum ,has strong overall corrosion resistancefor organic acids such as formic acid, acetic acid etc. With strong overall corrosion resistance ability. SAF2507 alloy
has stronger ability to resist corrosion for inorganic acid,
especially those containing chlorides .Comparison with 904L, SAF2507 has stronger ability to resist
corrosion for dilute sulfuric acid mixed with chloride ions .904Lis
alloy of austenitic state , dedicated to resist the corrosion of
pure sulfuric acid .316Lstainless cannot be used in hydrochloric
acid environment, it may have been partial or whole corrosion.
SAF2507 can be used to dilute hydrochloric acid environment, has
strong ability to resist spot lossand crevice corrosion .
The low carbon content NSAF 2507 is greatly reduced the risk of
intergranular carbides precipitate during heat treatment, as a
result, this alloy has a strong resistance to intergranular
corrosion associated with carbide.
3.Stress Corrosion Cracking
Double entry structure of SAF 2507 makes it has stronger ability to
resist stress corrosion cracking. Due to its high alloy content,
the corrosion resistance and strength of SAF 2507 is better than
that of 2205.In construction,cracks is almost inevitable, this
makes stainless steel is more susceptible to corrosion in chloride
environment . SAF 2507 have a strong ability to resist crack
corrosion. The corrosion curve of SAF2507 inthe sulfate that
contains 2000 PPM of chlorine ion is0.1 mm/year; and0.1 mm/year in
the hydrochloric acid .

purification, heat exchanger, chemical liquid cargo ship piping
system, water system, etc.
After solid solution treatment in appropriate , the microstructure
of 2507 stainless steel has a dual phase structure of ideal ,the
ratio of the alpha/gamma is about 50/50. When the solid solution
temperature above1050℃, with the temperature rising, steel ferrite phase number can
increase somewhat, but due to the high content of nitrogen , the
phase proportion would be no significant change at just under1300℃.
